James  Dean has been dead for for fifty years but his image lives on. Unfortunately, that image mutes the amazing, vital individual who was James Dean off the screen.
Last year I wrote a book about the Christmas custom we have carried out for forty years that had its source in the wishes Jimmy asked me to make as he was leaving.  He would say, "Make a wish - but don't tell me until I come back!"  What he knew would happen, and what I found, was that I did all possible to make my own wish come true.
I was six when Jimmy died and I never had the opportunity to tell him my last wish.  That wish was for something big, inspired by the last conversation we had that day.  The book tells you about it. If you read my articles you will see I am still working on it.
Anything worth wishing is worth the work it takes to make it happen.
